Energy Related Research at KU

In addition to efforts of individual researchers and collaboration within and among departments, the University of Kansas has a number of research centers, institutes, and programs that are involved in energy-related research:

Research Centers

Center for Environmentally Beneficial Catalysis (CEBC) - A multidisciplinary research center headquartered at the University of Kansas, CEBC is designated as a University of Kansas Center of Excellence. The mission of CEBC is to develop and make available novel, leading-edge technologies that bring about sustainable transformations in the chemical industry.

Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets (CReSIS) - CReSIS is a Science and Technology Center established by the National Science Foundation in 2005, with the mission of developing new technologies and computer models to measure and predict the response of sea level change to the mass balance of ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica.

Transportation Research Institute (TRI) - KU TRI seeks to build upon the strengths of KU research efforts in transportation by fostering a cross-disciplinary inquiry into a wide spectrum of emerging transportation issues. TRI provides an organizational framework that focuses on current and future research activities primarily focused on six interrelated areas: vehicle technologies and alternative fuels; safety and human factors; information systems and logistics; transportation infrastructure; socio-political and economic issues; and, environmental assessment.
