The University of Kansas consumes nearly 125,000,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity each year. All that energy goes into lighting and conditioning nearly 200 buildings, operating office and laboratory equipment, lighting sidewalks and parking lots, and making sure our campus runs smoothly for the faculty and staff that work here and the students they serve. Energy consumption fuctuates throughout the year (for example, cooling buildings in warmer months causes a dramatic increase over the summer), but trends have remained fairly steady over the past few years.
